At 7:01 p.m. on Tuesday, Atlantic City Police Officers Valmir Loga and Christopher Dodson responded to Ocean Body Oil in the 1400 block of Atlantic Avenue on a report of a woman armed with a knife refusing to leave the store, police said. As the officers arrived, the 28-year-old woman, Octavia Watson, was still inside the store with a knife in her hand, according to police.

The officers gave numerous commands to Watson to drop the knife who continually refused, according to Lt. Kevin Fair, a police department spokesman. Watson yelled at the officers that she was going to kill the store clerk, he said. The officers engaged Watson in dialogue for several minutes pleading with her to drop the knife. Watson complied and was taken into custody without incident, Fair said.

The officers later learned that Watson had demanded money from the clerk. The clerk refused to hand over any money, Fair said.

Watson, of Atlantic City, was charged with robbery, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, Fair said. She was being held at the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
